The New Year is upon us. I’m sure you’ve seen all of the New Year, New You challenges, posts, and propaganda. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good fitness challenge. It’s how I jump started my fitness journey.
Whether you choose to set resolutions or not, the New Year is a great time to start or refocus on your fitness goals.
Of course, we don’t need a New Year to make a change but we DO need a catalyst and for many of us the New Year is a great one.
Since you’re a part of my fit fam, I know health, fitness, and weight loss are probably on the list of things you want to accomplish this year.
I’ve learned a lot about nutrition and fitness over the last three years and I want to share a few tips to help you Get Fit and Stay Fit in 2017.
Unrealistic weight loss goals are in my opinion the number one reason people fail to reach their fitness goals. On my Facebook page this week I shared the simple steps I use to set successful fitness goals, check it out if you haven’t done so already.
This may sound strange but the other reason people fail at fat loss is because they go hard out of the gate but can’t keep up with the momentum. Then they get hurt or their body stops responding and they give up. I suggest picking 1-3 things to change at a time. Once you’ve mastered those things pick 1-3 more. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
This is my favorite tip. Regardless of the system, you use to reach your fitness goals – I suggest a system of progressive resistance training and a sensible, balanced diet similar to the one I used to transform my mind and body in Better After Baby – always think of it as a guideline. People are unique. We have different metabolisms and personal preferences. What works for one person doesn’t always work for another, for a variety of hormonal and psychological reasons. Fitness and health is a journey of self-discovery. Find what works for you.
Here’s to a healthier, happier you in 2017.
